Surabaya Emerging artist

SEA (Surabaya Emerging Artist) is a book initiative launched in 2024 by Dwiki Nugroho Mukti, Dimas Tri Pamungkas, and Danny Hartanto.

The work focuses on contemporary art practices in Surabaya; the phrase “contemporary art” refers to a broad definition, namely art practices that function in the current actuality space, with an emphasis on appearance and concept, with a discussion featuring emerging artists: artists whose careers have lasted less than ten years.

This book will feature selected artists, with qualifications based not only on career period limits, but also on work quality or artistic achievements, their involvement in the contemporary art field (on a regional, national, and international scale), and the strength of the concept contained in each of their works.

This book aims to support young artists, increase their visibility in the contemporary art ecosystem and its market, as a form of legitimacy in their artistic achievements and consistency towards professional artists and promote young artists in Surabaya.
